Massachusetts Third Trimester
Abortion Law Repeal,
backed by the
four Bishops of the Dioceses of Massachusetts,
hit nearly 100,000 signatures to
get on the 2028 ballot!
Yesterday, it was announced that the signature drive to block the implementation of the new abortion law was very successful. The four bishops of our state are immensely grateful to the people of our parishes who put in such a tremendous effort to gather the needed signatures!
If the process now works as it should, the new law signed in August, which was set to take effect on November 8, will be suspended. It will then appear as a ballot referendum on election day of 2028.
Yesterday’s official message from Archbishop Henning (Boston), Bishop McManus (Worcester), Bishop da Cunha (Fall River) and Bishop Byrne (Springfield) reads as follows:
Today, thousands of voices have been raised in the defense of the sacred dignity of human life. Voters from across Massachusetts signed a petition to recall the recent radical law that eliminated all limits on late-term abortion. As pastors, we raised our voices in opposition to the bill and in favor of the beauty of life. Every child is a gift, and every person deserves a chance to live. We wish to express our gratitude to God and to all of the coalition partners who worked so hard to champion this effort and to all the voters who signed the petition. May the Lord turn every heart towards compassion and love and may God bless the people of this Commonwealth, every one.
